Prior to his assignment as the USAID/Uganda Mission Director, Mr. Nelson served as the Deputy Coordinator for Power Africa. This Pretoria-based assignment involved responsibility for all field level coordination and oversight for Power Africa, including working with senior U.S. Government Mission leadership in more than 20 countries to achieve Power Africa's goal of doubling access to power in sub-Saharan Africa. It also included almost daily engagement with interagency partners, development partners, and private-sector companies from the U.S. and around the world working in the power sector in Africa. Previously Richard served as the Resident Legal Officer at USAID offices in Pretoria, Bangkok, Baghdad, and Washington, providing support over that period on the full suite of legal issues to numerous USAID Missions.

With over ten years of experience in carpentry, marketing, interior design, and community development through skilling, Evelyn brings a wealth of expertise to her role as General Manager of The American Chamber of Commerce of Uganda.

Passionate about empowering women and creating a more inclusive workspace, Evelyn founded the Fundi Women Initiative which aims to train and support women who have survived human trafficking, early marriages, and young motherhood, providing them with skills in carpentry and its value chain. By doing so, Evelyn strives to bring gender equality to the male-dominated industry and foster economic empowerment for women while creating valuable employment opportunities.

Evelyn's dedication and impact have not gone unnoticed. She received the Outstanding Community Social Impact Award in 2023 and was honored with the Women 4 Women Award for Best Businesswoman in Uganda in 2018. Her commitment to community development led her to become a Fellow through the U.S. Department of State's Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) at Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business in 2015. In addition, she served as President of the Uganda YALI Fellow Chapter from 2016 to 2017.

Evelyn's accomplishments have gained widespread recognition in the media, both internationally and locally. Her work has been featured on esteemed platforms such as CNN, CCTV, Notre Dame, and TRT World, contributing to her brand awareness and solidifying her reputation as a prominent figure in her field.

With her extensive experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to empowering women in the carpentry industry, Evelyn Zalwango is a dynamic and inspiring leader in her role as General Manager of AmCham Uganda.

William Osal is a versatile professional with 10 years of uninterrupted experience working with National and International Civil Society organizations in Uganda. He is currently the Country Manager at Days for Girls Uganda whose mission is turning periods into pathways.
At Days for Girls, we increase access to menstrual care and education and innovate sustainable solutions that shatter stigma and limitations for women and girls. William is passionate about menstrual health equity and women's empowerment agenda as a whole. He is a strong believer in building effective means for girls and women to participate and influence decisions that affect their lives.
