The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we interact and work. After the announcement of the mandated second lockdown in Uganda, many corporations (some of which are AmCham members) have instituted remote work policies to help combat the spread of COVID-19. With an increased number of employees working through remote connections, and the fear and uncertainty prevalent in the country today, corporations and their employees are increasingly at risk of fraud or cyberattacks.

Speakers
Jeffrey Sanow began his public service career by joining the Peace Corps at the age of 20. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer, working as an Agricultural Mechanic and Farm Machinery Technician in Tunisia and in Gabon. After completing his service, he resumed his college studies, earning his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees.
After working in the private sector, Jeff joined the Central Intelligence Agency serving in Asia, the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean as an Operations Officer. He was then called back to Langley, Virginia to serve in leadership positions, rising to the rank of a Senior Intelligence Service Officer (SIS 1). After his retirement, Jeffrey worked with a variety of companies training the US Military in Intelligence Operations. He spent one year in Islamabad, Pakistan serving as Chief of Intelligence and Security for the company building the US Embassy. He subsequently became the General Manager of the third largest security company in Uganda. He returned to Florida in 2020 to establish his Investigations Company to continue serving the public good.

Bernard is a seasoned professional in the IT industry with a strong focus on IT service delivery, cybersecurity, information security and systems integration. He has over 15 years of industry experience and has previously held IT service management roles with Barclays / ABSA and Bank of Africa.
For more than eleven years at SYNTECH ASSOCIATES, he has worked on projects for clients
such as Google, UNICEF, Coca Cola, MTN, Airtel, Fred Hutch Cancer Research, Andela,
Kerzner International, Arizona Computer Services and Deloitte in Africa, Europe and the Middle
East.
He is an active member of ISACA, serving on the Kampala Chapter Board on ISACA
International Volunteer Committees and as an accredited trainer for CISA and CISM courses.
His volunteer work also includes mentoring, training and coaching of leaders in the information
technology industry.
He is also a regular speaker at cyber security conferences and an APMG certified trainer for information security, IT risk and governance, cloud computing and site reliability engineering.
